SILICONIRAN CONFERENCE AND FORUM MAKES
A BIG SPLASH IN THE SILICON VALLEY

Iranian-American Technology Forum Attracted over 400 Professionals in a Sold Out One Day Event

SAN JOSE, Calif., July 31, 2002 - SiliconIran, the premiere business and technology information source on the high-tech industry for global Iran hosted the Iranian-American Technology Forum (ITF) on July 25, 2002 at the Silicon Valley Conference Center in San Jose, California. In an all day event, ITF brought together a diverse group of entrepreneurs, engineers, legal advisers, venture capitalists, investment bankers, and executives of all backgrounds to discuss today's economy and technology. 437 individuals attended the event.

ITF entertained eight panels discussing subjects ranging from venture capital spending in a depressed economy, the telecommunication's downturn, to the semiconductor industry. The morning opened with keynote speaker, Krish Prabhu former CEO of Alcatel who discussed the telecom recession, industry recovery and potential investment opportunities. The first panel opened to a lively discussion on venture capital spending lead by Guy Kawaski of Garage Technology Ventures. The event lasted all day and at times, the conference filled to standing room only.

"It was amazing to see a diverse group of professionals in one room discussing such important topics pertinent to today's technology and economy," said Susan Akbarpour, CEO and Co-founder of SiliconIran. "It was not only an educational event but a historical one as well. ITF allowed a group of individuals that don't regularly network to do so."

Iranian-Americans make up a significant percentage of high-level executives in the Bay Area. It was SiliconIran's goal, through the event, to help demystify the Iranian community and introduce a diverse group of executives and companies to one another. The event allowed these executives and many other industry leaders to meet, share ideas and make business connections. The event was featured in the San Jose Mercury News, which can be viewed at http://www.bayarea.com/mld/mercurynews/business/3732002.htm.
