Resonext Raises a Total of $39 Million in Oversubscribed Series C Round
New Investment Brings Resonext's Total Funding to More Than $68 Million

SAN JOSE, Calif.—June 18, 2002— Resonext™ Communications, Inc., an emerging developer of Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) semiconductor products, today announced that it has closed an additional $14 million in an oversubscribed Series C round of funding. With this latest infusion of capital, Resonext has closed $68.5 million in funding since the company's inception in 2000.

Five new investors, Crimson Ventures, Hotung Capital Management, Asia Tech Group, Manitou Ventures and Infinity Global Investments, participated in this extension of Resonext’s Series C round. Existing investors, Norwest Venture Partners, WK Technology Fund and Oak Investment Partners also contributed to this second closing. Resonext will use the new capital to continue to bring current products into production, build out sales and marketing channels, and continue its next-generation product development.

“The bar for investing in WLAN companies is extremely high right now, and Resonext’s unique product architecture and patents have positioned the company to anticipate and meet its customers' needs for next generation wireless networks,” said Cliff Chen, partner at Crimson Ventures’ Asia operations. “Resonext is one of the few WLAN companies that has given us high confidence about its progress in critical areas such as product development and management team experience, and we welcome the opportunity to participate in this latest round of funding. We look forward to working closely with Resonext to help make the company’s vision a success."

“Receiving funding from five Asia based strategic partners is a great endorsement of Resonext’s vision and our ability to deliver highly optimized products for end-to-end wireless networks worldwide,” said David Tahmassebi, president and CEO of Resonext. “Taiwan produced more than 70% of the worldwide WLAN cards in 2001 and that number is expected to increase in the future. The support available from our new investors will give us tremendous leverage with Asian based customers as we continue to build our channels and pursue the exciting and rapidly growing WLAN market."

The RN5200 Family Provides Completed Wi-Fi5 End-to-End Wireless LAN IC Solution

The Resonext RN5200 chipset family consists of two chipsets targeted at both WLAN clients and Access Points (AP's). Both chipsets incorporate the company’s innovations in True Zero-IF 5GHz CMOS radio, flexible Media Access Control (MAC), and AccuChannel™ equalization technology for greater range. These innovations, combined with full IEEE 802.11i compliant security features implemented into the chipsets, enable Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to reduce the cost of their client and AP products while offering unique differentiated features.

Both the RN5200 client and AP solutions consist of two chips — a highly integrated RF chip and a baseband/MAC IC — each built on the standard 0.18-micron, 1.8-volt CMOS process. Resonext’s RN5200 client and AP chipsets are fully 802.11a compliant and support the 5.15-5.35GHz UNII bands and up to 54Mbps data rate. The AP chipset, featuring the Access Point on a Chip (APoC) architecture, enables the lowest cost, high performance and feature-rich AP platforms. The client chipset delivers cost effective, low power consumption and differentiable PC cards or mini-PCI cards.
