December 29, 2003 - FourStars.net, a Dubai Internet City company was one of the first private sector businesses to lead a fundraising campaign for the survivors of the earthquake that hit the city of Bam, in the south east of Iran. Within hours of hearing the news, Mr. Shahriar Shahabi, FourStars.net Director of Marketing and Corporate Relations broadcast an e-mail under the heading "Call to Humanitarian Duty" to his industry colleagues and partners in the DIC asking them for their donation and support. Within hours he was able to raise more than 50,000 Dirhams plus tangible donations. The target is to raise 500,000 Dirhams over the next few weeks, and with the help of corporate sponsors it is more than likely that FourStar.net will meet its target.

"I was truly humbled by the response I received. It only goes to show how amazing the human spirit, regardless of race, nationality or faith, reacts when a fellow citizen (in this case an entire city), is in need of help", stated Mr. Shahabi. "The moment I sent out the e-mail I had people responding to me from Germany, the United States, and by our local friends and partners in the Dubai Internet City, with one question on their mind, how can we help? I was truly touched by the overwhelming sense of human goodness. So it is only appropriate that I take this opportunity to say "Thank You" to AMEinfo, Cobion AG, IBS Software Services, Datamatix, FourStars Computer, FourSys Training, the Dubai Trade Center and individual contributors from the IT and financial profession for their generosity and unconditional response.

FourStars.net, with the help of H.H Sheik Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charitable & Humanitarian Foundation, has packed all the items purchased which includes, blankets, warm clothing for men, women and children, flashlights, medicine and kitchen supplies and is preparing the shipment to Bam, today.
